The song was released on True Steppers, “True Stepping” album, released on November 27th, 2000 by NuLife Recordings. Beckham decided to not put the track in her debut album, Victoria Beckham, because she had so many other new songs that had to cut before the final tracklist, so she didn’t want to loose another one to put the track in the album.

Single:

“Out Of Your Mind” is the first solo single released by Victoria Beckham featuring True Steppers and Dane Bowers, released on August 14th, 2000. The single was tipped to be number-one after a military promotional campaign and a series of record signings. Although the single was midweek #1 until Saturday, Spiller featuring Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s “Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love)” (midweek #2) outsold “Out of Your Mind” by 20,000 copies by Sunday. Although Victoria is the only Spice Girl not to have a solo number one, the single remains the biggest first week sales for a solo Spice Girl single selling 180,584 copies. The song sold over 395,141 copies in the UK, it was certified Gold and was the 21st best seller of 2000 and the 152nd best seller of the decade 2000–2009 in the United Kingdom.

Background:

Dane Bowers needed a singer to duo with him in the True Steppers track, and found Victoria when she was in recording sessions in the same studio as him recording Forever with the Spice Girls and invited her. They finish the track in one week. The first time the song was played was on BBC Radio 1 on June 23th, 2000.

Video:

ouof2 The futuristic video for the track was directed by Jake Nava (“Holler” and “Not Such An Innocent Girl”). Victoria and Dane are escaping from the control of the True Steppers in a race in a Matrix look-a-like set. The filming took place in Chalk Farm, London, on July 4th 2000, the same day David and Victoria celebrate their one year wedding anniversary.
