I Believe

“I Believe” is a song from Melanie B’s debut album Hot

Lyrics:

I believe in my baby
Our love will always be (I believe in my baby)
I believe in my baby (ah yeah)
Our love will always be, yeah yeah yeah (say it, say it, say it again)

Now here come to me
Just when I thought
That no one had no kind of love for me
My aching heart was restless
Hopelessly deceived
You came along and made it
Easy to believe in love again

I believe in my baby (ah yeah)
Our love will always be (say it again)
I believe in my baby

Arms of an angel
Shield me with protection
And you show me that you care
I say it loud and proud
That I ain’t goinh nowhere
You made my house a home
And now I do believe in love again

I believe in my baby
Our love will always be
I believe in my baby (I do)
Our love will always be, yeah yeah yeah

Secrets all unfold
There’s nothing left unspoken
From the heart you and I know
Everything about each other
We just let it show
To be or not to be
Thats what you said to me
We gonna get it started now
Living out our fantasy

Cos I believe
I believe in my baby (my baby)
Our love will always be (say it, say it, say it again)
I believe in my baby (I do)
Our love will always be, yeah yeah yeah (I believe in my baby)

Ah yeah
Say it, say it, say it again

I believe in my baby
Our love will always be (I believe in my baby)
I believe in my baby (ah yeah)
Our love will always be, yeah yeah yeah (say it, say it, say it again)

Cos I believe
I believe in my baby (my baby)
Our love will always be (say it, say it, say it again)
I believe in my baby (I do)
Our love will always be, yeah yeah yeah

I believe in my baby
Our love will always be
I believe in my baby
Our love will always be, yeah yeah yeah

Background:

“I Believe” was one of the three first songs recorded for the Mel B’s debut album project, along with “ABC 123” and “Pack Your Shit”, with the producer Ted Riley, who did all the beats and production himself. The song it’s a bit indie and funk/poppy. They recorded the song about July 1999.

The song talks about finding love after a heartbreak and trust in love again. But a shrill voice during the chorus backing vocals is similar to what suppose to be an alien, making the listener believe that the song talks about meeting an alien.

The song is considered, by most fans, one of the least favorites Spice Girls Solo Songs of all time, and always is on “Worst Songs” popular pools.
