Background:

Between 2001 and 2004, Geri Halliwell wrote many songs for her third album project. Initially, the album was going to be called Disco Sister, focused on electropop, EDM and Europop sounds. Before the record label changed the concept of the album, many songs was scrapped, replacing some of the dance songs with ballads, jazz-pop, and electro-pop songs.

During the production of the original third studio album concept, Geri recorded Crystal Waters’ cover for “100% Pure Love”, and was rumored to be released as the lead single from Disco Sister‘s album. Was also rumored that Geri decided to cancel the single and scrap the song, afraid of being know successful only with not original songs, such happened before with “It’s Raining Men”, also a cover.

“100% Pure Love” is a dance-pop/house track. Three remixes from the song was released on The Almighty Collection album, released on December 22, 2008. And the demo and the US radio edit leaked before in 2006.
